Work Description:
|
Self-employed position working as a party plan consultant. Offering flexible hours to fit in around your other commitments. There are no geographical areas imposed – you sell to your network of contacts wherever they may be. We are looking for outgoing, positive people who love meeting people and selling who also has a love of children’s fashion.

Average hours per week:
|
Variable, but would recommend a minimum of 6-8 hours (combination of daytime and evenings)

Investment required:
|
There is an initial registration fee of £25. You are sent sample clothing worth over £900, on a loan basis but once you reach a sales target the clothes are yours to keep. You have to supply a cheque worth £450 of this which is NOT cashed - it just acts as security against the value of the stock you receive, and the cheque is returned to you at the end of the season. The sales target is £2500 - an average party makes about £250 of sales, so 10 of these in the 5-month selling season meets the target.

You can earn between 20%-30% commission per month depending on the amount of sales you generate.

None – full training given.

|
Induction training by manager including Starter Show then monthly meetings covering various training topics.

Yes - essential.

Storage Required:
|
Space for 2 rails (or wardrobe space to hang samples when not being used) plus an area for paperwork.

I have just started my 5th season as a Consultant and my 4th season as a Manager for Captain Tortue. I consider myself to be really lucky to have found a job that is so rewarding but also gives me enough time to do all the ‘mummy’ things with my 4-year old daughter, Abigail. Direct selling works brilliantly around children as you can do your parties in the evening when they’re in bed or during the day when they’re at school, or if they’re preschoolers you can take them with you, as most of your customers will have kids with them as well! The fact that you work for yourself is a big bonus too as you decide what hours to work and how much time you want to commit to it.
Not only has the income been fantastic, but the job has done wonders for my social life too and I’ve made some great new friends through this!!! We have monthly team meetings where we cover a different training topic each time, but also have time to catch up with other consultants and gain valuable tips from everyone! And of course, another great benefit is having a wardrobe full of beautiful clothes for Abigail who I shamelessly use as my little ‘walking advert’!
I’d be lying if I said that there weren’t any negatives – leaving your nice warm house on a dark, rainy night can be a bit of a chore! And although 99% of the parties are great fun and successful, there is still that 1% that can be dreadful! However, I still think that I’ve got the best job in the world and wouldn’t dream of doing anything else!
