Victoria Davey Senior Keepsake Consultant, Swindon, Wiltshire.
After having my little girl Isabella, I decided that I did not want to go back to work full-time and I started searching for something more fulfilling which I could fit in around my family.
Ideally I wanted something fun and creative, which would also be profitable and flexible, so that I could spend more time with my little girl.
After much searching, I discovered The Keepsake Co and immediately realised the benefits in joining. They offer a fantastic opportunity for women that want to start out in business, which is both affordable and flexible.
I joined initially as a Keepsake Consultant and attended a course to learn how to take the various prints and moulds. I was so inspired - I couldn’t wait to get involved in the production myself and have since qualified as a Senior Keepsake Consultant licensed in Fingerprint Jewellery and Clay Impression production. I’m also planning to attend additional courses in the near future.
How often do you work? It can vary each week. The majority of the time it tends to be a couple of hours per day. That is the benefit of the Keepsake Co. you can fit your work around your family life. I have a little girl therefore I needed a job that was flexible enough to fit around her. This works perfectly! I can do as little or as much as I want!
Do you put in any extra time? I am so passionate about succeeding with my business I do tend to put in extra time. I find it easy to do so, as I am a very creative person and love what I’m doing. It doesn't seem like work at all!
Idea of realistic earnings? I joined the Keepsake co around 10 months ago as a Keepsake Consultant. I attended my first Production Course (Precious Prints) 6 months ago and since then have made £6000 working, part-time, just a few hours per day. Now I am established I am looking to at least double this in year 2.
How do you view Training & Support? The training and support I have received has been excellent, especially since the launch of the online support desk. Your queries are always answered within 24 hours. The training courses are packed with information and techniques and are really hands on. I came away from each course feeling really excited and couldn't wait to put my new skills into practice!
What are your ongoing costs? Materials, advertising and marketing, this can range from a one off advert in a magazine to a monthly cost i.e. Advertising Board in a Soft Play Centre.
Where do you work and do you need a car? I have a studio at home. I would say a car is definitely vital as you need transport to take samples to fairs and for getting to customers houses for party bookings.
Do you advertise? I have an ongoing advert on a large board in a Soft Play Centre. I also advertise in libraries, shops and magazines.
Do you need space for stock? I keep my stock in my studio and garage.
Are there any downsides to the job? Because of the support I have received from the Keepsake Co, I don't feel as though there are any downsides at present, I am loving what I am doing!
Would you recommend joining The Keepsake Co? I would definitely recommend joining the Keepsake Co! They offer a fantastic opportunity for women who want to start their own business. It's affordable and what's more you can work at your own pace to fit around your family life!!
