When did you start up in business, and what was your motivation?
I started in 2004, Previously I worked in IT as a trainer, I didn’t like it very much due to travelling, I felt ill & was always very stressed.

In a nutshell, what do you do and what makes your business unique?
Our customer service. We offer unlimited support after our courses at no extra cost.

What has been your biggest business achievement?
Opening our 4th academy in Edinburgh. I never imagined I would have anymore than 1 place.

What stage is your business at now & what are your plans for the future?
We have 4 academies, 12 members of staff and 2 franchisees.

How do you manage to juggle your business with family life? Has it been challenging?
It is very challenging but I am not at a stage where I can do a lot of work from home and not go into work as much. Can also afford not to go in some days and things still tick over nicely.

What resources do you NOT have now that might make your life easier?
Money. I think most people would like more money don’t they? If I have extra cash I would put it into purchasing main training premises and have it fitted out to my requirements.. Things are a bit limiting when you rent commercial premises.

You were a winner/runner up in the 2009 PR Challenge, what did you do to generate so much media coverage for your business?
We entered and won many awards, we wrote press releases which were printed in many newspapers, a few magazines and online on various websites.

When doing your own PR, what resources did you use to get you started, and still use today?
We generate a lot of media interest by taking part in charity events and fundraising, newspapers give us good coverage due to this. I like mums club forum we have had a few things in papers from the media requests.

How much did you spend last year on promoting your business?
£3500

What do you feel is the most important aspect to doing your own PR?
Motivation, you need to be focus and motivated. If PR isn’t your thing outsource it otherwise it will never get done.

Do you have any special PR tips to pass on to the 2010 entrants?
Get involved in charity and local events it will get you known and hopefully create media interest.
