We teach a selection of simple signs based on British Sign Language. Even a newborn baby can recognise their own needs (at a basic level ie. hungry).
If you can teach a six month old that it is appropriate to wave when you leave the room, why not teach them that it is appropriate to sign "milk" when hungry?

Level of Investment required:
|
Initial fee is £1,200. This includes:
- Fees for our solicitor to draw up a contract which supports the interests of both parties
- Licence to trade under the name & logo of Musical Signers
- Your own unique territory
- Lessons plans / handouts
- Uniform
- A large selection of teaching aids: books, puppets, CD's, instruments etc
- Some Musical Signers stationery and advertisements to get you started
- A @musicalsigners.co.uk e-mail address
- Support and advice
- Opportunity to network with other Musical Signers franchises

Description of Business & Activities:
|
We teach Baby Signing. Musical Signers offer:
- Parent & child classes
- Private classes in child’s own home
- We are available for work at Children's Centres, libraries, nurseries etc
- We are also involved in Deaf Awareness training. This can generate extra income, but is only available to Franchise owners who meet the minimum requirements.

Earning Potential:
|
Parent and child groups
We recommend a maximum class size of 20 babies (plus parents). Our guide price is £4 each. Therefore if a class is full, you can expect it to bring you £80.
That's £80 for just one hours work!
However, you need to take into account room hire (approximately £6-30 per hour depending on venue), petrol costs, the fact that a class may not be full, etc.
You may also need to spend some time working at home preparing for classes and advertising
Work for organisations
We recommend charging £25 per hour, plus petrol costs

Ongoing Financial Commitment:
|
The licence to trade under our name & logo is renewable at £240 a year (starting on the first anniversary of you joining us). This can be paid in instalments.
You pay us nothing else. Your profit is all your own.
However, your franchise is your own business and you are responsible for it's running costs.

Training & Support:
|
We will provide you with lots of hints and advice when you start! Once you have paid to join us, you are welcome to watch another franchise owner at work (with their permission) to see how we operate.
We are only at the end of the phone should you have a query. We want you to succeed!
Their will be various training sessions on offer, for a small fee. These are optional.

Experience Required:
|
To buy a franchise you must:
- Pass a CRB check
- Have British Sign Language level one or above
- Have childcare experience (parenting does count!)
- If you are a qualified Teacher of the Deaf, Communication Support Worker, or have British Sign Language levels 3/4 you will be allowed to run Deaf Awareness sessions if you wish. This can bring you more money - and we won't charge you any extra!
