What are the key features of the products or services that your business offers:
events for parents and children and also music why should customers and clients use your services? The events are great fun for all the family

When & how did you start up in business?
Officially started the events in September 2007 but spent 7 months preparing!

How did you decide what business to go into, and what was your motivation?
Went into business by chance – was a stay at home for 4 yrs
and just happened to come across the US Baby Loves Disco website and
loved it.

What were the most challenging aspects to setting up?
I spent a year
networking with other kids/family related business’s to spread the word
– it took a lot of time and effort  but was worth it.

What has been your biggest business achievement?
All the amazing press we’ve had, taking part in Dragons Den and winning best new activity in the Whatson4littleones awards last year.

Have, or do you do anything out of the ordinary to benefit your business?
Continually networking and helping other mums achieve their
business goals.

What stage is your business at now & what are your plans for the future?
We started events in 2 cities in the UK and are now at 8, we are taking part in more festivals this year, our compilation album is coming out in the summer and we are working with local communities and arts/dance agencies.

How do you manage to juggle your business with family life? Has it been challenging?
This has been a big challenge – I can now manage my time a
lot better than I did at the beginning and this is so important as I did
get to the stage when I began resenting work – I took the plunge and employed a part time assistant which has been a huge help.

Has online networking, specifically with other mums, benefited your business?
Hugely! I’m a big advocate of mumsclub and as BLD doesn’t
advertise and relies on a grass roots approach it is very important for
us to network to spread the word.

What resources do you NOT have now that might make your life easier?
Money!

What advice would you give another mum considering starting her own business?
Do your homework and background work before you even think about starting a business.
