pyjama drama

 Pyjama Drama
Franchise

Description of Company:

We all know how incredible a child’s imagination is – one minute they’re flying to the moon on a rocket ship, the next they’re sailing away on a pirate ship or chasing a dragon over the hills. If you want to work with the most creative little people on the planet then a Pyjama Drama franchise is for you.

Founded in 2005 by Sarah Owen, a drama teacher who recognised the immense benefits that children derive from drama, movement, music and creative play. It was an immediate success in her local area and Pyjama Drama is now being delivered to hundreds of children, in towns all across the UK.

Not only has the entire programme been developed in line with the current requirements of the National Curriculum for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales but it’s also lots of fun! Drama offers children the opportunity to develop a valuable set of skills – we call it the four Cs: creativity, confidence, concentration and cooperation.

All of our music, songs and session plans have been specifically developed for Pyjama Drama (none of it is ‘off-the-shelf’ library music) and this gives the programme added value that parents love.

Work Description:

Pyjama Drama is taught in private day nurseries, at playgroups, in infant schools, at parties and in ‘public sessions’.

Within a typical month a Franchise Manager would find him/herself teaching the Pyjama Drama programme, marketing their business within their franchise territory, networking with potential customers such as nursery managers and other parents and completing administrative tasks related to the successful running of a business.

Average hours per week:

Working hours are variable and dependant on the individual Franchise Manager. Each preschool session lasts for forty minutes so it is possible to teach up to six sessions in between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm. Classes for children between five and seven years are one hour long. Non-teaching related work (office administration) may involve as little as an hour or two a week, but again this is dependent on the individual.

Investment required:

Our initial franchise fee is £6,450 (plus VAT). Franchisees are also required to hold a marketing budget of £1,000 in their bank account.

Earning Potential:

Our Franchise Managers have the potential to earn an excellent income and can choose to work part time or full time.  They also have the option to expand (and further increase their income) by taking on Class Teachers.

Fees for delivering the programme in nurseries and playgroups typically vary from £35 - £50 per session (depending on a number of factors including the area in which you live), £60 - £150 for our range of party packages and £60 - £80 for an hour long session in a school. When delivering ‘public sessions’ a Franchise Manager can expect to generate a turnover of approximately £60 per session for preschool classes and £85 for children in the older age range. These examples are based on a franchisee having a full class.

Experience Required:

Just as all children are different, so are our franchisees. However, there are certain skills personal attributes and experience we look for in all of our team which include; a genuine love of playing with young children, integrity, honesty, drive and the ability to work as part of a team, the ability to inspire and captivate young children, the ability to enter in to imaginary worlds and good organisational skills.

You do not have to be a trained teacher, however drama and creative play forms an integral part of each session so the ability to take on and engage with a role, and to improvise is essential.

Training & Support:

Our training and ongoing support is second to none and we work closely with our Franchise Managers to help them develop thriving, successful businesses.  As a Pyjama Drama Franchisee you can expect:

Pyjama drama classes

In their own words – why join our team

My experience of Pyjama Drama whilst buying and starting my franchise has been nothing short of fantastic. Head Office has been 100% supportive from the beginning and is always at the end of the phone to provide advice and support.  The training was excellent – very professional and covered everything you’ll ever need to know.  I love every minute of delivering this excellent programme.’ Emma Knighton - Franchise Manager for Trafford and Didsbury

Pyjama drama classes‘My training was fantastic – I’m not a trained teacher but by the end of training I felt fully confident that I could deliver an excellent Pyjama Drama session. I have now been a Franchise Manager for nearly a year and my teaching gets better and better!’ Anna Lingard – Franchise Manager for Oswestry and North Shropshire

‘Pyjama Drama is an inspiration – for the children, the parents and the franchisees. Sarah Owen has developed a magical drama programme for children and I am so excited to be part of this team!’ Kate Moor – Franchise Manager for Sutton Coldfield

‘Pyjama Drama has been a complete change of lifestyle for my whole family. Previously I was working five evenings a week and needed something to fit in with a busy young family, whilst earning a good income. Now I can take my girls to school, pick them up and cook their tea! Simple things that are so important and school holidays are no longer a problem either.

The directors are always on hand with help and advice and all equipment and all administrative and marketing material comes with the franchise package – excellent.’ Katherine Hayward – Franchise Manager for Tewkesbury and Gloucester

‘I looked at a number of franchise options before finally deciding on Pyjama Drama which was everything I wanted it to be and more…and more…and more! I loved the name, the logo, the content of the programme – everything! From the very first contact with Head Office I felt completely at ease and totally supported through every stage of the application process and beyond. The rest is history – and the future!’ Pauline Gill – Franchise Manager for Harlow and East Hertfordshire

‘I took both my girls to classes before buying the franchise so I have witnessed firsthand how powerful a tool Pyjama Drama is. We all want the very best for our children and Pyjama Drama is without a doubt the very best.’ Anna Lingard – Franchise Manager for Oswestry and North Shropshire
