Description of Company:

Scentsy began with a simple idea—a safe, wickless alternative to scented candles—and quickly grew into one of the most successful direct selling companies in the industry. This wickless concept was born when two stay-at-home moms began selling decorative warmers designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame. These safe candles mean you never have to worry about a open flame, no smoke, no soot or fear of fire.

Entrepreneurs Heidi and Orville Thompson encountered the small company at a home show in early 2004. They were intrigued by the powerful emotions and memories fragrance brings to the surface—without the safety risks of a burning candle. Heidi and Orville purchased the tiny company and moved Scentsy to Meridian, Idaho, USA, where the company's first home office was a 40-foot ocean shipping container on a small sheep farm.

Scentsy joined the Direct Selling Association (DSA) of the United States in 2004 and enrolled its first Independent Consultant. In just seven years, Scentsy has generated more than $700 million in revenue. Today, the company's family of passionate Independent Consultants shares the Scentsy experience throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, and, beginning in Spring 2011, Europe.

Work Description:

The freedom of being your own boss, the flexibility to set your own schedule and work as many (or as few) hours as you choose, and the limitless potential for success are just a few of the reasons people take up direct selling. And anyone can do it! You don’t need a degree or a background in sales or a big chunk of start-up capital. Direct selling is an easy, enjoyable way to earn extra income. When you bring together friends and Scentsy products, it happens naturally—laughing, sharing, and reminiscing! Fragrances evoke special memories and have different meanings for everyone. That's why our products can't be explained—they have to be experienced. And that's why Scentsy parties are so much fun!

People have very different opinions when it comes to fragrance—that's what makes a Scentsy traditional home party so much fun. Pass around 50 scent testers and listen to the reactions—whether you agree or disagree, they're sure to make you laugh! This party style is ideal for everyone, whether they're already fans or new to Scentsy. But if the guests can't make it we bring the party to them!  The Scentsy basket party is the perfect alternative for guests-on-the-go. You provide them with a beautiful display basket full of Scentsy product samples, order forms, and all the information they need, then they have10–14 days to share it with as many people they can at as many locations they like. Then they return the basket—and completed order forms to you to be processed.

Average hours per week:

You get to choose the hours you want to work. No matter what your life-style, a Scentsy Business can fit your schedule. Some work it as a full-time job; others work part-time for a little extra monthly income. Some Consultants build their business around their family’s schedule, working only a few evenings or the weekends.

Investment required:

£85 VAT inclusive, Starter Kit Includes: 1 Full-Size Scentsy Warmer, 1 Mid-Size Scentsy Warmer, 50 scent testers, a Warmer Stand, 2 Scentsy Bars, 50 catalogs (for the country in which the Consultant enrolls), 50 each of Buy, Host, and Join brochures, Host Rewards brochures, Host Guest List, Host Envelope, Print Your Own labels, PYO business cards, order forms, and a New Consultant Start-Up Guide

Ongoing Financial Commitment:

In order to maintain “active” status, you must have at least 150 points in Personal Retail Volume (PRV) during one out of every three months. You’re free to schedule as many or as few parties as you like and sell as much or as little product as you like. You can also act as your own Host and Consultant.

Earning Potential:

Unlimited; The amount you can earn depends completely on how much time and energy you want to invest. Consultants make 20%–30% commission on their own sales as well as additional bonuses on the sales of other Consultants they sponsor. Some of our Consultants opt to sell just enough for a little extra pocket money, while our Superstar Directors can make six-figure incomes per year.

Experience Required:

At Scentsy, it’s all about relationships, not hard sell tactics. If you enjoy socializing and sharing Scentsy products with friends and family, you have all the qualifications you need to succeed. In fact, the complete lack of sales pressure and the simplicity of our products are the main reasons so many Scentsy customers decide to become Consultants. They find themselves enjoying a party experience instead of having to sit through a typical sales presentation and suddenly realize, “Hey—I can do this!”

Training & Support:

Training & Support: At Scentsy, we don't just recruit Consultants—we sponsor, support, and mentor them. If you choose to join my team, I'll be your personal Sponsor, helping you every step of the way as you launch your new business. You'll have access to our private team training as well as the entire network of Scentsy Consultants through the MyScentsy Forum and a wealth of online training and resources

scentsy I have never done any sort of Sales job before. My Degree is Recreation Management, I worked for many years as a Manager at a Swimming Pool Centre, but after the birth of my of my 2nd child I couldn’t find the balance between home and work & decided to leave my professional career & dream job to stay home with my children.

Finding our family in an unexpected desperate financial situation several years later I decided I needed to help out financially … but not so easy to just jump back into the work force as now we had 3 children & were expecting our 4th. That is when I heard Scentsy was coming to Canada. I decided to try my luck at sales and signed up the first day it came to Canada on October 1, 2009.

That was 18 months ago. It was the best decision ever. Starting my Scentsy business has allowed me to dream again about the possibilities for our future. This business works for me, not me for it. I am finally able to find balance between family and work. I get to choose my own hours, meet wonscentsy derful people; I am learning and growing as I develop new business & leadership skills. Many days I work at home in my pajamas making phone calls, organizing orders or chatting online or via email with the other consultants on my team. I plan my home parties around my family’s schedule so I get to go out 2-3 times a week, give away a lot of free product, have a great time, meet amazing people & get paid for it. But what I really love about my Scentsy business is my ability to make an income without leaving my family, through the “Basket Party” concept. I have several baskets each containing all the scents, catalogues, order forms, a warmer and a few scent bars. I drop them off to my hostesses so they can have people over and share Scentsy at their convenience. They get their free hostess rewards and I still make the commission. A complete win-win!
